Located in the desert of Southern California, Erasmo Ramos Vega lives and works in City of Coachella. For over two decades the artist has fused together the painting histories of Graffiti, Street Art, Abstract Expressionism, and Art Brut. His process embraces the sun-drenched desert environment where the creation of fractured, textural surfaces encounter severe levels of heat and physical transformation. Like a constantly painted graffiti wall, shifting between creation and removal - Ramos Vega’s process takes on a layering of beautiful decay; building up, and tearing down surfaces with a colliding synergy of chaos and control. In this sense, his application of paint becomes a material force of nature, transitioning within elements of weather, decay and time.
